I’ve had multiple opportunities appearing based on the work that I have put into living an intentional life, and you can safely assume (and you would be right!) that over these last months, I have indeed been saying yes to myself…BUT let me tell you—saying yes to yourself does not eliminate burnout, and it does not release you from creative blocks that stem from burnout.
So as I wrapped up my fiscal year at work, first half of 2024, and multiple simultaneous projects over the last few weeks, I found myself fulfilled from everything I’ve been working on, but also mentally and physically exhausted. I knew I needed to give myself even more time and attention. Although I don’t get it right every time, I do tailor my Self Care or as I like to call it “Norel Care” to give myself what I need on any given day.
I’ve spent the last 10+ days tailoring my personalized path to “Norel Care”. I have spent time both alone and with loved ones, took more naps, let me body tell me what it wanted to do, where I wanted to spend my energy, and allowed myself to fully relax, relate, release! I’m happy to report I feel more refreshed, I have clarity on my focus for the 2nd half of the year, and I have determined that my top priority is preventing burnout again by managing my energy more wisely and building off the foundation of what I have already accomplished during the 1st half of the year.
Want to hear a few of the things that happened since we last connected and ways I’ve been saying “Yes” to myself? Keep reading!
Over the last three months, I have:
- Completed the Inner MBA which is a 9-month certification program meant to help participants cultivate self awareness, creative vision, and collaboration skills to master the inner work of business and achieve exceptional results. What made this extra special is that I earned my certification on the 5 year anniversary of my Mom’s transition.
- Connected with nearly 100 college students and early career professionals to share career guidance.
- Worked on The Yes Crowd’s upcoming All About You Retreat. This will be an intimate space to spend time intentionally focused on you. Be among the first to know when tickets are released by signing up here.
- Planned and executed ‘A Celebration of You’ private dinner for members of The Yes Crowd in Houston in partnership with Career Catalyst Group as our title sponsor.
- Was featured in the online magazine, Canvas Rebel, where I spoke about the origin story for The Yes Crowd and a tough lesson I have unlearned. Check it out here!
- Spoke on my first in-person panel to a group of college students about the importance of showcasing their unique experiences and backgrounds in the workplace and in life.
- Completed a trademarking bootcamp class…multiple trademarks loading!
- Interviewed for two internal positions at work (I didn’t get either of them, but I count it ALL joy—more on this soon!)
- And much, much more!
